An induction week would be the desired time to go through ground rules. This would ensure the learner knows where they carrel from the beginning of their course and stop them getting into ‘bad habits’. College policies would be addressed both verbally by the motorbus and visually by providing handouts and course manuals. These would then allow the learner to drop dead with something they could constantly refer to should they be unsure, whilst also giving the learn the means to reiterate and point out the policies that are set, should a problem occur. Assessment The purpose of initial assessment is use to ascertain the learner’s take aim of academic conjecture and to gather information to relating to their individual encyclopaedism style . This will be through using diagnostic tests, previous results e.g. GCSE’s and encyclopaedism styles questionnaires. The use of target skills is used to find out the learners literacy and numeracy level and is extremely useful for tutors to assess the need for concentrate or mentoring within the group.

It is important for the learners to take part in these tests as early as possible to allow them to receive the reassert needed to give them the best possible chance to survive in the course. Without these assessments the learner’s strengths and weaknesses may go unattended until further into their c ourse thus potentially hindering them in the! ir overall grade.
